Volunteer with us in 2026!

It cannot be overstated how important volunteers are to everything that WOA does. Whether it’s OysterFest, our weekly summer Makers Market, an Art & Oyster Crawl, Farm Tours, Shell Recycling, or one of our many educational offerings, nothing we do happens without the help of our friends and neighbors. We welcome people to join us by lending their time and talents to support our mission.

If you are interested in environmental stewardship, community engagement, and hands-on nonprofit work we would love have you as part of the Alliance.

Shellfish Farm Tour Volunteer: Support Hands-On Education

The Shellfish Farm Tour Volunteer supports WOA by helping lead tours, coordinating on-site logistics, and engaging visitors to ensure a positive, informative experience on the flats. This event-based role follows the rhythm of the tides with early morning hours from June-September. Ideal for students and community members interested in evironment education, marine science, or outreach, this opportunity offers deeper knowledge of oyster biology, history, and cultural significance and valuable experience in public engagement and community-based education.

Communications Specialist: Amplify the Voice of Wellfleet’s Shellfishing Community

The Volunteer Communications Specialist supports the Wellfleet Oyster Alliance by managing social media, promoting events and fundraising initiatives, making light website updates, and drafting and assembling newsletters. This role requires strong writing skills, attention to detail, and comfort working independently with digital tools such as social platforms, Canva, and SquareSpace. We welcome volunteers at all experience levels who are eager to collaborate and take initiative, from students and early-career professionals to seasoned communicators. This flexible, year-round role offers hands-on experience in nonprofit communications and digital storytelling while contributing meaningfully to the future of shellfishing in the Wellfleet community. We ask for a time commitment of 3-5 hours/week.
