OysterFest FAQs

Are DOGS allowed at the Fest?

  • No Dogs or any animals are allowed per Wellfleet Board of Health with the exception of Service Dogs.

  • Where does my entrance fee go?

  • WOA is a non-profit organization that promotes education and exposure to our vibrant shellfishing industry

  • You get 3 bands on stage each day, the shucking competition each day, 2 scientists speaking at the Wellfleet Library (free) speaking about shellfish on Saturday, a free kids area, free parking at designated areas, and free shuttles.

  • Anything else you pay for, such as food, oysters, drinks, beautiful arts & crafts area, shucking lessons ($10/ includes a lesson, 6 oysters & a scientist speaking about oysters).

Do I need a ticket in hand or can I buy one there?

  • All tickets will sold through Eventbrite at wellfleetoa.com/oysterfest.

  • Kids 12 & under are FREE but they also need a ticket at admissions.

  • THERE IS A TICKET SPECIFIC FOR KIDS.

  • Every person entering the Fest must have a ticket.

  • As long as there are tickets still available you can purchase one on your phone at wellfleetoa.com/oysterfest.

  • Kids 12 & under are free but need a Kid ticket!

  • There is a ticket for kids.

  • No ticket/no entry.

SUNDAY, October 15th is a Wellfleet resident’s FREE day. The coupon code is 20wellfleetresident23.

  • A WELLFLEET ADDRESS IS REQUIRED to use the coupon.

Where will WOF be held this year?

  • WOF will be on Main St on October 14-15, 2023

Where is the LOST & FOUND?

  • LOST & FOUND is in the Admissions Tent at Town Hall

ALL BAGS WILL BE SUBJECT TO SEARCH.

  • If you have an item confiscated at the entrance you can retrieve it at admissions when you exit for the day.

Can I bring my own beer or wine?

  • No outside alcohol is allowed at the ‘Fest.

Is there Beer & Wine at the ‘Fest?

  • Beer & wine will be sold within the designated areas of the Fest

Where is the FIRST AID TENT?

  • On the front lawn of Town Hall.

Where do we park & what should I expect when parking and using the shuttle service?

FREE PARKING & SHUTTLES

Wellfleet OysterFest provides FREE parking & FREE shuttle service from the 3 beaches on Ocean View Drive.

  • Lecount Hollow Beach

  • White Crest Beach

  • Newcomb Hollow Beach

Shuttles will loop continuously from the Ocean View Drive beach parking lots to the corner of Main Street & Bank Street, dropping guests off at the Town Hall entrance gate.

  • Shuttles loop approximately every 30 minutes from the beach parking lots.

  • Shuttles begin departure each day from the 3 ocean beaches at 10 am & take about 10 minutes to get to the center of town.

SHUTTLE DROP OFF & PICK UP LOCATIONS

  • Each BEACH will have a designated drop off & pick up location just outside the Fest.

  • Find the sign for the beach you parked at to get the right shuttle back to your car.

  • WHEN DEPARTING, PLAN AHEAD, departing shuttles WILL BE CROWDED & lines form when everyone leaves at the same time!

  • SHUTTLES END AT 6 PM ~ PLAN ACCORDINGLY

OTHER PARKING

  • Local private citizens & businesses provide paid parking close to the Fest

HANDICAP PARKING

Twenty FREE Handicap parking spaces are available at Mayo Beach with shuttle service to the entrance at Holbrook/Briar and Main Street.

  • This is a longer distance to Town Hall but it is the only flat area the shuttle bus can stop & assist people off of the shuttle without causing a backup of the other shuttle buses.

  • More Handicap parking is available at the First Congo Church for their fee of $20.

Can I bring a weapon?

  • No weapons are allowed inside the Fest, all bags will be searched by security at the Admissions Tent

Can I get a refund for my entry ticket?

  • There are no refunds on tickets, all sales are final.

Will there be an ATM?

  • Yes, locations are on the side of Town Hall & near Cape Cod 5 Bank

What is appropriate clothing for WOF?

  • Please check the weather for Wellfleet prior to arrival and dress appropriately.

Does the WOF go on, rain or shine?

  • Yes - WOF is a Rain or Shine event

What should I expect when bringing my kids to WOF?

  • The Festival is large & often crowded. Please make arrangements with your kids for a meet up location. There will be security throughout the Fest with WFD located in WPH Lot and WPD located on the front lawn of Town Hall.

  • Strollers are allowed

Is the kids area free?

  • The kids area activities are always free - cotton candy is $1.00

  • Even FREE (kids) need a ticket to present on a mobile device, or printed out

Is there security at WOF?

  • Yes - there is security personnel during WOF to enhance police and fire presence and safety

  • There are no secure lock boxes or areas to secure personal belongings. All patrons must be responsible for their own possessions

Shell Recycling at OysterFest

  • Volunteers endeavor to capture 100% of all shells of consumed shellfish during the event. You can do your part by making sure your shells go into the shell recycling bin. For more information, talk to a shell recycling volunteer or visit the NOAA booth or MA Oyster Project booth.
